Day to Day Itinerary

Early Morning: Hotel Pickup from Moshi or Arusha

Your driver guide collects you from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha at approximately 6:00–7:00am. The drive to Tarangire National Park takes approximately 1.5–2 hours from Arusha, passing through the scenic Masai Steppe and agricultural villages. Use the drive to enjoy the Tanzanian countryside waking up around you, and to discuss what wildlife you are most hoping to see with your guide.

Morning: Game Drive in Tarangire

Enter the park and begin your morning game drive — generally the best time for predator sightings. The Tarangire River is the lifeline of the park, drawing wildlife from across the ecosystem. In the dry season (June–October), elephant herds numbering in the hundreds congregate at the river — a wildlife spectacle of extraordinary scale. Your guide will navigate the park's network of tracks to maximize sightings of lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, buffalo and the rare fringe-eared oryx. The baobab trees — some over 1,000 years old — provide a magnificent backdrop for wildlife photography.

Midday: Picnic Lunch in the Park

Stop at one of Tarangire's designated picnic sites for your packed lunch. Sit in the shade of a baobab and watch the African bush go about its business around you — this is safari at its most peaceful and authentic.

Afternoon: More Game Drives — Return to Hotel

Continue game driving through the afternoon, exploring different sections of the park. The afternoon light is golden and beautiful for photography. Tarangire's birdlife is outstanding year-round, with over 550 recorded species. Depart the park in the late afternoon for the return drive to Moshi or Arusha, arriving at your hotel by early evening.
