Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar — Stone Town Exploration

Fly from Kilimanjaro or Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar. Meet your guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon guided walking tour of Stone Town — UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's most remarkable historic towns. Wind through the ancient alleyways, see the ornately carved wooden doors, the Sultan's Palace Museum, the Old Arab Fort and the atmospheric Darajani Market. Evening at Forodhani Gardens night food market for fresh seafood and Zanzibari street food by the waterfront. Overnight at hotel in Stone Town or at beach.

Day 2: Spice Farm Tour — Transfer to Beach Hotel

Morning spice farm tour in Zanzibar's fertile interior — the living legacy of the Spice Island's remarkable trading history. Smell, taste and learn about the island's extraordinary variety of spices: cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, black pepper, lemongrass, cinnamon and more. A traditional Swahili lunch at the farm follows.

Afternoon transfer to your beach hotel on the east or north coast. Settle in, take your first dip in the warm Indian Ocean, and watch the sun set over the turquoise lagoon. Overnight at beach hotel.

Day 3: Dolphin Swimming — Coral Reef Snorkeling

Early morning boat trip to the waters off Kizimkazi on the southern coast for the chance to swim with Zanzibar's resident population of spinner and bottlenose dolphins — one of the most magical wildlife experiences available on the island. After the dolphin excursion, stop to snorkel the coral reef at a nearby pristine site, followed by a fresh seafood lunch at a local restaurant on the beach. Afternoon of free beach time — swimming, reading or exploring the local village. Overnight at beach hotel.

Day 4: Morning Beach — Prison Island — Departure

Final morning on the beach. Optional morning trip to Prison Island (Changuu Island) to meet the colony of giant Aldabra tortoises and explore the beautiful old prison buildings. Return to your hotel for checkout and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your onward flight. The white sand and turquoise water of Zanzibar will be calling you back before your plane even lands.
